Thesis Collection: Phobias
My gender fluid collection consists of six looks, each representing a different phobia. I designed two custom textiles and experimented with hardware, specifically safety pins. My last look is inspired by my condition, IBS, an intestinal disorder causing an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine. I designed a textile using scans of this gut bacteria. In addition, I hoped to work with vinyl to create lava lamp bags that mimic this gut bacteria. IBS disorder stems from anxiety and therefore, the gut bacteria bags paired with each look tie each phobia together.

Lava Lamp Bag Design: gut bacteria
Each vinyl panel would be filled with hydrogen peroxide and food coloring. Next, the panels would be sealed using a vacuum sealer. Lastly, I would construct the bag by sewing the panels together.
